Live Shark Cam

If you want to get up close and personal with sharks, look no further! This live underwater camera is beneath the Frying Pan Tower, which is situated 34 miles off the coast of Cape Fear, North Carolina. The tower was built in the 1960s to warn ships of the shallow waters nearby, and while GPS navigation technology means this tower is no longer used for its original purpose, it's an important habitat for sharks, fish, and other marine wildlife. We commonly see sand tiger sharks (Carcharias taurus) and sandbar sharks (Carcharhinus plumbeus) here, but sometimes other species are observed as well, including a great white sharks occasionally!
